Oh yes, this question Papa especially dedicated to all [tag]motorcyclist[/tag]. Why, you want to be in the statistic? Papa talking about “[tag]The Death Statistic![/tag]“. Before Papa go on explaining why this is my topic in the early morning of Sunday, well just wait and read through all to the end.

Now here are some statistic for the motorcyclist. Read through all the links Papa provided than tell Papa, you want to be in the statistic or not?

This is from 2004 statistic quoted:

Malaysia

* Motorcycles represent 49.6% of traffic
* Motorcycles involved in 60 – 67 % of crashes
* Motorcyclists represent 50 – 57 % of deaths
* 33% of motorcyclists are involved in weaving
* 30% of helmet users not wearing helmet properly
* Only 24% of children are using a safety helmet
* Problem of motorcycle racing on public highway

From presentation by Kulan K. C. Mani, Road Safety Research Centre, University of Putra Malaysia, at ASEAN Seminar, Viet Nam, March 2004.

Now, here in 2005 statistic quoted:

death statistic
source: statistical report road accident, Royal Malaysian Police, 2005

Try reading this Road Safety Situation in Malaysia. Lots of info, especially in the road construction on how to avoid this statistic going up. Motorcyclist, you involved too.

Papa do not have time to check the 2006, but Papa bet statistic for the motorcyclist will only going up and not down. Whatever it is, accident does involved human being. Human interaction is the correct term for Papa. Yes, Papa going to tell you what had just happened this morning on the way to the office. And yes, Papa working on Sunday! Geez :evil:

Papa was driving like the normal speed, 60 to 70km/hr on this road and turning to a very busy road near to the office in Luyang. And out from no where, this self-proclaimed the coolest couple in the world on a ‘kapcai’, yea the small motor one, driving leisurely, pointing here and there to his right, to his left while chatting with his girlfriend. Like they own the road and to think of it, he was like the tourist guide, explaining the wonderful site of Luyang. Well Papa do not mind as long as you keep the speed reasonable. Now here was the thing. Papa’s car just behind them and behind Papa’s car, were 5 more cars, all waiting, queuing, like angrily behind me. They horned Papa like many times because they thought Papa was the one holding them. Papa understand their frustration. Papa just lift Papa hand and pointing to the front. To the romantic couple in front on a motorcycle.

Now, what do you think Papa should do? Well, Papa of course have to horn them. Papa going to work, remember. It was already 9:25am and 9:30am is the thumb print time! So hush hush. Now, Papa’s car got this two modified big horns. So, when Papa press them, it was like a big treller lorry coming towards you. So, of course it got the attention of this romantic couple. What kind of attention? Well, lets just say, the guy turn his head back, like a 5 seconds look and turn back to the front again. and drive his ‘cup’ like nothing happen. :shock: Yep, just like that only. So, what you gonna do now? You late remember and other people ‘horning’ [is this the correct term? pasar wordlah] you from behind. What you gonna do?

The limit was reached. Its Papa time to settle this once and for all. Papa change gear, slow down a bit, like to 20km/hr. Enough space between Papa’s car and the motor. Press it down to the metal. Full throttle towards his motor and at the last minute Papa brakes with a very loud screeching sound just before his rear mudguard and rev the throttle! :twisted:
Guess what happened afterwards? Oh no. He just stopped and park his motor in front, in the middle of the road and coming towards Papa’s car. Oh yes, this is getting better and better. Well, before he reaches Papa’s car, Papa come out and pointed to the back. That time already like 10 cars in queue. Papa just stand there and smile while saying, “Apa lagi kau mau? Ah?” [In english word, "What? Something wrong, ah?"]

With that, guess what happened again? To be continue lor…. :wink:

OK, OK. Nothing happened afterward. He just angrily gone back to his so-called cute partner and his “merz” and rev away. He almost throw his partner backward! Hahaaha. Some people ah, you never understand. We give chance, they take for granted. Now, if other people, especially with a lorry. Do you think he got any mercy? I bet NOT! Do you think the statistic will go down? Now you tell me. :roll:

***pls take note, Papa do not hate motorcyclist and furthermore no motorcyclist got harm in this morning story! Ha!

    Papa, good post!

    All road users must be considerate and be safe on the road.

    I don’t understand why a lot of young motorcyclists and motorists like to speed so fast and drive recklessly. When kena baru padan muka. But kesian those innocent people.

    anyway, yea, i would like to remind all motorcyclist that being on a motorcycle is so so easy to get involved in an accident. Plus with bad attitude, sure easily enter the statistic. They hit car, they thrown away. Car hit them, sure thrown away also. They hit rock, pebbles, they thrown away also. so pls careful when driving a motorcycle. especially if those incident involves innocent people. :(
