Would you buy an established PR5 site?

Would you? Page Ranking 5 site is a very high value domain nowadays. Especially after the downfall of so many “used-to-be PR5″ domains. To be honest, I would buy too. Why not? Now, before we go into details why should or should not, I want to explain a bit on the Page Ranking term. Well, if you are not as techy as most of the people out there, do not worry, we are in the same boat. Let me explain it to you in my very simple day-to-day English.

PageRank Explained

PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page’s value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at considerably more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; for example, it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves “important” weigh more heavily and help to make other pages “important.” Using these and other factors, Google provides its views on pages’ relative importance.

Of course, important pages mean nothing to you if they don’t match your query. So, Google combines PageRank with sophisticated text-matching techniques to find pages that are both important and relevant to your search. Google goes far beyond the number of times a term appears on a page and examines dozens of aspects of the page’s content (and the content of the pages linking to it) to determine if it’s a good match for your query.

Now, that is not from me obviously. That is from Google Technology page. Who else to explain better than the creator of Page ranking itself. Ha-ha. :D

Well for me, I know this one thing. The more higher related ranking sites linking to your site, the higher your page, site, will be. I probably wrong but my blog live on this belief.

Anyway, do not talk about my blog. Let us talk about the real deal here. I just found out Heritage-tech.net owner, Azmeen has the thought of selling his HTNet, would you buy it? I believe if you are into techy thing, you should. The blog has tonnes of useful information. Now, the main question is how much is it. How are you going to put value to HTNet without asking the owner himself how much he already spent his valuable time and sweat on it. Not to mention, the cost of running it - paying the domain name and hosting. I am sure it is a lot. Let me quote from his about page:

I’ve been maintaining HTNet for God knows how long

To those who thinks $5,000 is enough to buy his HTNet, well think again. I have this interesting page in my bookmark, that give an estimation value of site based on the Technorati. I take the honor of checking http://www.heritage-tech.net/ and guess what how much the blog worth? $42,905.04. Yes it is at USD$42,905.04. Wow, that is pretty damn nice number. See, HTNET IS NO CHEAP PR5 BLOG AND IT VISIBLE IN ITS VALUABLE CONTENT.

On the other hand, you can always ask Azmeen directly if he really selling it. You never know you may get a discount. Well, even he gives you 50% discount, it is still a lot at around USD$21,452. Yaikkksss. That is a lot man.

Oh ya, to check the value of your blog, check Dane Carlson’s page here.

Well, it’s a thought worth thinking. I mean, nothing lasts forever… sometimes it’s better to get a good deal when things are heading your way.

Anyway, if you really found someone who’s willing to buy HTNet for US$42,905.04. I’ll give you a $2,905.04 commission on the sale :)

$40K? Count me out from your list Azmeen…I love your site but I can’t afford it if that is the selling price…I may sell my site when I’m old enough…can’t type properly anymore…can’t catch up with the tech world…but that will be, years to come.
