No Smoking for Six (6) years!

Yeah … just want to make a stamp here that I have not been smoking for six (6) straight years already. I stopped on the same day as our KK City Day, 2nd February 2002. I had been smoking since after the SPM. Now that when I not even 18 years old. Guess what year is that? :D

Those are the days and the memory is still there. Dunhill is the brand that stuck for me forever. Dunhill is still my favorite if ever I want to recommend others what to smoke. But hopefully not. Smoking is not good for you. Don’t listen to me, listen to the many documentaries that show the affect on your life, your lung at internal being. I am not here to lecture you. I have been there and I can honestly say now that it feels good. Hahaha. My daily intake is around 30 sticks. That is around 2 packs of the 20s Dunhill. That is the average. During my studying time back in ITMCS, the stress to pass the exam is so high and I did not even like the course I took – Accounting. So, smoking was compulsory that time to make me think straight. That was what I thought lah. During this frenzy, 3 packs of 20 sticks were normal. Especially if you cannot sleep and worry too much. Those were the days. Those were fun days. Young, energetic and rebellious. I passed my Accounting with near flying colors as they said but the smoking still continue till the day I got married. Wife knew I was a smoker so that was not the reason I stop smoking. I stop smoking simply because I got fed up trying to stop for one week, and then one month and then failed again. Another reason was, I want to have children. Good healthy children. After reading so many documents and articles on smoking effect on the babies, it got me scared and knowing my generation will be affected by my craving for cigarette smoking. I was really scared. I decided there and then, I NEED to stop or I will regret later. I bought a pack of 20s Dunhill and smoke like there is no more tomorrow. I did not tell my wife about my plan. I just told her that I already quit smoking and I promise her she will never see me smoking again for the rest of my life. At the stroke of midnight, 2nd February 2002, I managed to smoke only 12 sticks and threw the 8 sticks leftover. From then on, I never stop again until today. Praise The Lord, Amen. :D

This is supposed to be a short post to say I have stopped smoking for six years and I don’t intend to teach anything other than this. There is no trick and no gadget to make you really be able to stop smoking. It is all in the mind. Mind can control over the matter. Just don’t think to move the mountain lah. That one is definitely cannot. However, one will know. Maybe can if they really think hard. I know and my reason are really strong one to stop me from ever smoking again. Whatever the temptation. Period.

So friend out there, if you are still smoking, if can lessen it for your own benefit. I say lessen the intake. BUT if you decided to stop and you have been having this feelings for so long already, just stop it. It is NOT the other matters that hard to beat. It is ONLY YOU TO BEAT. Can you do it? I can because I want to. If you just playing with your mind like you want to try stopping for one month only, I bet you can but then after that you will continue doing it again. In fact, you will double the intake again. I have been there and tried everything to stop. Still could not until I really decided to stop for a very strong reason.

Whatever it is, enjoy your life while you still can. You yourself know the limit. I have no ill feelings towards any smoker. I have many smoker friends and I still with them. No problem. If they are too much already, I just ask them to stop smoking in front of me. That’s all. Second hand smoker is even worst. So I also need to take good look at my surrounding. Till then, enjoy blogging and enjoy your life.

I started when I was in from 5. Yeah… rather late. Smoke for a bit about 2-3 years then quit. No longer a smoker but during special ocassions like Xmas, New year or big event celebrating something, I do smoke as well.

Less pollution in front of babies is what you should do. I can’t imagine how certain irresponsible father can smoke in the car when the baby is barely few months old.
