What do FAMILY really means to you?

What is FAMILY to you? What does it mean in real life other than what the text said and explained. How do you define the true meaning of the word FAMILY? Is it just a word in the dictionary or is it really has something more meaningful than just a word?

I am no good in elaborating the word FAMILY or any other words in English or whatever the real thing about it. All I know, it is the core of my life. Without it, I might as well die. Yep, I am being emotional. I am after all a Papa, father to this three little kids who know nothing about paying bills and taxes, debts and expenses. One thing they do know is LOVE. Pure virgin white love.

my children is my life

Thanks to my friend Gilbert for sharing this through email. I am so touched and feel real guilty. Sometimes things happened without realizing it. Wife said Mommy’s not perfect and I think me Papa even worst. I am guilty as charged too :(

Please continue reading and I hope you can feel what I am feeling right now too.

F A M I L Y

I ran into a stranger as he passed by,
‘Oh excuse me please’ was my reply.

He said, ‘Please excuse me too;
I wasn’t watching for you.’

We were very polite, this stranger and I.
We went on our way and we said goodbye.

But at home a different story is told,
How we treat our loved ones, young and old.

Later that day, cooking the evening meal,
My son stood beside me very still.

When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.
‘Move out of the way,’ I said with a frown.

He walked away, his little heart broken.
I didn’t realize how harshly I’d spoken.

While I lay awake in bed, God’s still small voice came to me and said,

‘While dealing with a stranger,
common courtesy you use,
but the family you love, you seem to abuse.

Go and look on the kitchen floor,
You’ll find some flowers there by the door.

Those are the flowers he brought for you.
He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.

He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise,
you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes.’

By this time, I felt very small,
And now my tears began to fall.

I quietly went and knelt by his bed;
‘Wake up, little one, wake up,’ I said.

‘Are these the flowers you picked for me?’
He smiled, ‘I found ‘em, out by the tree.

I picked ‘em because they’re pretty like you.
I knew you’d like ‘em, especially the blue.’

I said, ‘Son, I’m very sorry for the way I acted today;
I shouldn’t have yelled at you that way.’
He said, ‘Oh, Mom, that’s okay.
I love you anyway.’

I said, ‘Son, I love you too,
and I do like the flowers, especially the blue.’

FAMILY
Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days. But the family we left behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than into our own family, an unwise investment indeed, don’t you think? So what is behind the story?

Do you know what the word FAMILY means?
FAMILY = (F)ATHER (A)ND (M)OTHER (I) (L)OVE (Y)OU

Please share this with others. I believe this is so so true. It happens to everyone. Hope we have the courage and strength to change and realize that FAMILY is our priority. Children are our hope and for me, they are my life. I will do anything for them. Do not take for granted. I will remember this and I hope, so do you. Please share with others. Thanks.

Thanks again Gilbert for sharing this wonderful story. May God Bless you, Amen.

    well, i’m guilty as charged too, there are times where I would be so lost in work that i miss my boy’s silent plea to play, to bond with him and i wonder why he prefers his kakak,ouch, that hurts…although he is only 1 year 2 months now, he understands LOVE is spelled TIME spent with him. Now I make it a point not to bring any work home, will play with him as long as he wants too..

    *sigh* I am all too guilty of this. Especially with the little one around, I get too caught up in taking care of her thinking that Buddy will be able to do things by himself.. and get angry at him for things like waking up his sister when she’s sleeping and all that.

    When they’re asleep, that’s when I feel it most. There was once when I scold him harshly for making Allie cry, he said, “You hate me kah?”.. I end up crying instead.

    Thanks for this post PapaJ.. I found it on MamaJ’s blog.. :) Thanks to the both of you. You both really are superparents! :)

    eshark my friend, yes it is touching isn’t it. it shows u have heart to acknowledge and feel it like me. it shows also u can be a father if u ready for it. yep, make sure you’re ready for it. If not yet, then don’t. You’ll find it tough like hell if u not ready. trust me :D

    shemah, we are not superparents but thank you for saying that.
    We all make mistake and that make us human. Just hope our mistake is not the big one and can be corrected. in this case, i just my son Josh did not hold grudge or revenge or whatever the words for it. I just hope he’ll be ok and tough and understand that we actually we do not meant to hurt him. Same like your buddy. Your buddy is really a matured and more smart to ask you that question. Like ours, just keep silent. sad.
    Thanks to Gilbert for sharing this to me. He knows more coz he makan garam earlier than me :D
