Why go to 1Borneo Hypermall Sabah?
Papaadmin June 23rd, 2008 | Viewed 4,447 views
Why ah? I also don’t know. It’s the new thing. It’s the new happening in town. If you are living around Kota Kinabalu, you should at least once go here. Why? Well, our CM said so. Yes, that is Chief Minister Datuk Musa Aman said so. Hahaha.

So many things to see and they are really so many shops there. I have like in a hundred of shots just on my first visit. It’s a ‘Normal’ thing for a busy Papa like me. When you seldom go out, new thing like this sure attract my attention and definitely my camera 1GB memory won’t be enough.
I do not want to spoil the fun, but here one shot I like among many. On my 2nd visit night time almost close at 9pm. I like it because my twins are there and even our nanny auntie also there. Remember my expired driving licence post? Yeah, I mentioned there. So happy to just survived the expired driving licence that I drove them all there to 1Borneo.

Family man like me sure like to go places like this. Anything cheap for the family is my shop. Hahaha. Just being honest to myself. No need eksyen-eksyen kan
One place my son love to go is this lot …

I wanna share you all with this picture. If Daiso installing one of the security camera or something like this ademco, my twin number two son Presley sure been tackle to the ground and handcuff to the stroller for stealing the toy without paying.
Hahaha. Just kidding. So why go to 1Borneo Hypermall again? I know I go there because my Josh likes it and wife want to visit the Daiso again. There done.

@Jewelle –
Welcome back Jewelle.
Yalah… I go there as i said above becoz josh like to go for the playgrounds and wife to daiso.. not for eating. i heard lotsa people complaining their foods there…
i heard even more horror story about the food there from reliable sources .. but i wont blog about it. 1Borneo is still in progress project. Im sure later on will be better… im not talking about the food though. After all if its really happening as their claimed, I will be really proud to propose 1Borneo again to others. After all, it is in Sabah. Support local place. Not the eaterylah for now

Hi PapaJ..
Have a nice day… bah, ada good news ka?
ME no like 1Borneo, so is my kids.. (Maybe its too big for Lil C.. His fav is CT Mall~lagi teda kadai sana). Not young family friendly.. Doesnt provide baby changing room, not even a table to change baby in the toilet. Imagine, if I hadda change baby’s poopoo at Starbucks’! ewww! The so-called ‘trendy’ sinks are totally unhygenic, imagine urg ludah di sana… ewww2x.. hehehe.. Anyways, ada saja bah kan mo komplen.

Complaint is good as long as it constructive.. membina. I hope the official or the management of 1Borneo can see all these comments and complaints here so that they will improve on it. If not, it is their lost.
Ada good news… food poisoning and Spain to the final

Hi papaj,
Interesting blog you’ve got going here. I actually wanted to write an email complaining about the toilet facilities but the official website doesn’t even have an email for correspondence! Looks like i’ll have to do it the snail mail way.
Great photos by the way! I visited the place twice last week (was back in KK for a wedding & holiday so decided to pop in to 1 Borneo but am back in Aust. now).
The mall is huge and carries a lot of good major tenancies (although I didn’t manage to walk around the entire mall!), however, the finish of the tilies, int he general malls, the toilets, the cubicle doors etc were APPALLING!
I LOVE KK to death but the quality of the finish is just a farce, really. I’m an architect & have worked on a few shopping centres in Australia and I can honestly say, I would not have approved the finishes prior to nor after opening.
It actually really saddens me to see a potential great development tarnished by bad management and money hungry investors. The entry could have been finshed with a different material but a big mass of concrete just dates – even before it opened and I’m not the only one that thinks this.
It could be so much better! And I heard why the toilets were not really kept ‘clean’ even though we had to pay 30cents to enter, it’s because the shopping centre management fialed to pay the cleaners! WHY ARE WE PAYING $0.30 per entry to a toilet:
1. that is not clean and smells horrible
2. where not all the taps are working properly
3. where the finishes are badly done, sealants everywhere, tiles chipped and broken
4. no facilities for parents with babies or young children
5. where the cisterns do not flush properly
My list is never ending!
I may sound like an ungrateful ex-pat but I’m not, I’m just amazed that with so much money invested, they churn out crap construction and design.I’m angry at the management, I’m angry at the investors, I’m angry at people who concocted the whole hypermall idea but never bother to see everything through and mostly, again at the MANAGEMENT! They are doing a lousy job!
We are supposed to develop properties to provide for a better KK, instead, each time I go back to KK, I hear of things that just haven’t been developed properly. Sure, we have flyovers, new shopping malls and a beaming waterfront but look at the big picture, the investors, management etc, these people are only using the developments to obtain monetary gains for themselves, I do not see which part did they have KK’s best interest at heart. They should first provide good facilities, the best security becasue the mall is so huge, better designs and ENOUGH with the corruption!!! for Pete’s sake, FIRE the people who bring KK down and HIRE the right people! and pay them right as well, SHEESH!!!!!
I always promote KK to people in Australia, telling them how friendly the people are and great the outdoors are in KK but the feedback I’ve received from my friends who have visited KK, great place, love your parents, loe the food, but the amll facilities arereally not up to par.
sorry people, no offense to anyone but just had to share my more than 2 cents worth.

@CW –
carol – thanks for the “more than 2 cents worth of comment”
I heard a lot of this complaints and I understood people thinking what they’re thinking of 1Borneo. I hope the management staffs see this so they know that they have this problem and people really don’t like it.
So far, honestly, I never have bad experience while in 1Borneo. I seldom, thinking about it, never use the toilet.. so i don’t know and I seldom got the time to watch all the tiles and design. Most of my time keeping sure my kids not running around knocking things off their shelfs. hahaha. When time to go out, straight to the parking lot. Till now, i never really enjoy 1Borneo to the fullest. I probably had enjoyed Midvalley in KL more than anything here in KK…. other than our own backyard CKS supermarket. hehehe.
Anyway, I still hope the management sees this. I hate to see 1Borneo go down as bad to other tourist … coz like it or not, 1Borneo in some weird twist, represent KK Sabah development. Sigh.
August 19th, 2009 at 3:57 pm
Thanks papaj for ‘listening’… to my crazy rantings!!…LOL
yeah, I have to agree about 1borneo representing the development…
It’s just what I notice first, but that’s regardless of where I am, it’s just in my natuer to notice such things, otehrwise i’m not very good at my job now am I..;)
I’m sure most shopping centre patrons do not notice the cracked tiles..but they’ll notice it if their child or someone trips over them and injures themselves!!!
When you get a chance, Papaj, check the toilets out =)
In the meantime, i’m still trying to complain to 1borneo, to get their act together! It’s a pity i’m this far away, otherwise I’d go stright to the management office! they’d probably throw me out! LOL!
Take care and God Bless!

among all the mall in kk, that’s the worse jockey service as i went there today, and apparently there was this cycling event on, and the parking lot was to be reserve for the cyclist, BUT NO SIGN BOARD OR ROAD BLOCK WAS PUT THERE STATING THAT THE PARKING AREA IS RESERVED. so my friend drove in, when there was a car in front of us too, who is also a shopper, like us, the car who came in after us, appears too be a jockey because he was in the uniform. we parked the car, and was about to come out when the jockey came and tell us to GO AWAY, in a very unpleasant manner. there was other jockey there too, but they kept silent and did not tell the car who came in before us to move. so my friend tell the jockey that why don’t you ask the other car to go, he refuse to answer and tell us to GET OUT OF THE PARKING LOT!!so my friend said to him, if this is the parking for cyclist, why did you park your car here as you are a jockey, and not a cyclist, he answered: i’m different, i’m on duty, not like you, coming here to shop! we told him that there is no sign that says the area is reserved, or no road block thing is there to prevent us to come in. he answered in malay: what i say is what you should do, meaning that he is right, we are wrong, and you go away now or else your car shall be in a disaster. so we reversed, and then a car came in and park there again, we stop by the road side and see, they did not take action towards the car driver, who is a lady with 3 children, who is a shopper, not a cyclist.
i’ll call the management and review the matter to them for action. if no action is taken or apologies is given to us, then we’ll call daily express hotline and send them the picture i’ve taken of the parking lot, with tha lady shopper, to take action.
