What do FAMILY really means to you?

family, personal, Preston and Presley, Son Josh June 19th, 2008 | Viewed 1,615 views

What is FAMILY to you? What does it mean in real life other than what the text said and explained. How do you define the true meaning of the word FAMILY? Is it just a word in the dictionary or is it really has something more meaningful than just a word?

I am no good in elaborating the word FAMILY or any other words in English or whatever the real thing about it. All I know, it is the core of my life. Without it, I might as well die. Yep, I am being emotional. I am after all a Papa, father to this three little kids who know nothing about paying bills and taxes, debts and expenses. One thing they do know is LOVE. Pure virgin white love.

my children is my life

Thanks to my friend Gilbert for sharing this through email. I am so touched and feel real guilty. Sometimes things happened without realizing it. Wife said Mommy’s not perfect and I think me Papa even worst. I am guilty as charged too :(

Please continue reading and I hope you can feel what I am feeling right now too. Read the rest of this entry »

How to solve the Rubik 3x3x3 permutation puzzle

Internet, Leisure June 18th, 2008 | Viewed 6,527 views

During my laptop and internet breakdown, one of the many things I have done is this, solving the Rubik 3x3X3 puzzle. Do you know what is the Rubik 3x3x3 puzzle? Wiki coming to the rescue.

A permutation puzzle is a type of puzzle in which parts move around the puzzle in a limited number of ways. Depending on the number of parts and the restrictions on movement the puzzle has a number of possible configurations, or positions. The higher the number of possible positions, the more difficult it will be to solve the puzzle, in general.

This puzzle was so famous back in the 1980′s, invented by Erno Rubik in 1979, that everyone of my school friend need to have one. My family is one of the fallen crazy fans of it. Yes, the four of us brothers including my father, each got our own Rubik and challenging ourselves for the new family record.

Those were the days that we had one common interest other than badminton. Now, I am the only one know how to finish this. My 3 brothers all forgotten about it. Not all the formulas though. Like me, before this I can only remember halfway through. Right to the step 2 or 3. I have been trying to finish the whole face of the puzzle but just could not. I can’t even understand the instruction included in some of the cheap rubik package. Even from the information I gathered from the Internet gave me nothing but headache. Until I saw a few videos from the expert.

From the video below I can average at a record of 2 minutes to finish the puzzle. That was using the old, cheap RM2.50 puzzle. It is so tight and hard to turn. If you force it, it will break … like what I did to my 3 rubiks. Yes, I have many and many just broke during the ‘speedcubing’ as the expert call it. Currently, I still have 3 rubiks that still playable including my latest RM25 worth of rubik (below picture). This one is a better rubik to play.

Immediately I broke my own record of 2 minutes average at the first try only. Now my record stand at 1 minute 20 seconds. I know it is still too slow in comparison with other guys in the Internet but hey, at least I have improved myself after just using new expensive rubik. The new rubik is adjustable with springs inside and you can actually make it faster by lubing it with some type of oil. For me, I use my rc hobby synthetic oil. I can explain more later, if you ask lah. I can even show you how to finish the rubik puzzle using the simple method, they call it “beginners way”. Only if you ask. For now, just watch this video of mine made in the office in a hurry using my cheap rubik worth RM2.50. Sorry silent mode. :D

Any question, buzz me in yahoo messenger or just comment here lah :P

But if you wish to ignore me and find the real source, you can go to Rubiks Official Online Site. :(

… just kidding. Here the Official World Record 8.72 seconds set by my master a Japanese Yu Nakajima at the Kashiwa Open Final 2008. Read the rest of this entry »

How to Drive When Your Driving Licence is Expired?

Leisure June 17th, 2008 | Viewed 3,430 views

Yes, i show you all how to drive your vehicle with your driving licence expired. Are you ready for this? This is no illegal act just pure knowledge I want to share. I just did it yesterday to prove my point on this. Are you sure you want to know more? If you are, keep scrolling down.

Hahaha. You are interested eh? Well, to be honest, if I translated it correctly the above title on how to drive when your driving licence is expired, the answer is easy. So so easy. Just drive like you do not know that your driving licence is expired. Like me. I just found out last Sunday that my driving licence has expired since May!

LOL. Cool eh. Yeah I had no worry driving my car around the town and even drive up to Mt Kinabalu National Park Resorts last Kaamatan (I story telling later, kio). Even passing all the road blocks and JPJ staffs without any hesitation. Just cool driving because I know my car road tax is still valid till August. I never once thought about my driving licence expiry date. Until the day before yesterday when my wife asked about it. All of a sudden, I got scared driving. Cold sweat. Even any small traffic jam I thought the JPP staffs doing their checking. I immediately turn around and find another route. Apalah!

I finally renewed it yesterday at Tg Aru Post Office. I renewed for straight 3 years. Of course, I will forget about it too. It’s 2011 man. Still far ahead. No matter what, I am just happy I finally renewed my driving licence. I am so happy yesterday that I even took our kids’ nanny out for a spin. Yeah, we even went far up to 1Borneo where even I got lost in looking for the parking space, I just smile and just u-turn.

So, what’s your experience on driving licence? Have you ever got scared of going out after you knew about it or just ack macho like nothing happen but deep inside you like matiiiiiii lah? Please share with your comment here :D

Happy Father’s Day!

family, Fathers Day June 15th, 2008 | Viewed 838 views

To all fathers out there, Happy Father’s Day to you. May all wishes come true. May all the children happy and healthy as you want them to be. One whole happy family, Amen.

I would like to dedicate this post to my own father who is always smiling and positive thinking. Even at his age at 73 and with constant visit to the Queen Hospital, he is still as healthy as he believes he is. Of course this is not 100% true when you look at his medical records and like hundreds of pills in his bag that he has to take to stay alive. In fact, he has been to the hospital so many times, with so many near-to-death situation and yet still survive to tell us more jokes during the family gathering. I sometimes wonder, is it his positive thinking that made him got through all these obstacles or just he is one plain lucky father.

I could not have ask for better father than he is to us all now. With six children to feed and finance to all our higher education, I just could not believe how he managed it by just being the rubber tapper, the Sabah state Sembulan Mosque builder at one time, the tiring Lian Tung Bus driver, the goverment JKR, CPS driver and finally as one of the Berjaya / PBS ministers’ driver, roaming here and there till late night and not to mention few more odd jobs in between till he retired and currently back in the Kampung Limadang Membakut Beaufort. Despite all those difficulties, we all brothers and sisters never once not enough food on the table during the dinner and lunch time. We all brothers and sisters finished our schools and some of us even went to higher learning and graduates to each our professions. How all this happened when we are really coming from poor family and still is, living moderately.

I am so so proud of my father and of course to my mother too. To be honest, I am so jealous of others who has family that safely can be said as ‘rich people’ and have something to help their children financially and some even have lands or business to inherit to. Even belanja kahwin pun kena sponsor by the parents. Not with us. Not with me. Everything is on our own. My father really has NOTHING as in zero of everything, except of his never dying attitude and always smiling and positive attitude towards everything. Now I realize why mother love my father so much.

To you Bapa, I love you very very much. I wish you long life, healthy and smiling always. I wish you still alive to see my son Josh Luke finish his SPM. Yep, that is another 13 years to go and I believe it is possible. I wish you always there for us, Bapa. AMEN.

LONG LIVE BAPA! I LOVE YOU!!!

Broken Laptop Still Alive!

Laptop, personal June 14th, 2008 | Viewed 1,164 views

Testing from broken laptop. Managed to start it after many days struggling till late night to early morning. After many mugs of Sabah Black Coffee and arguments with the kids. Imagine have to start all over again with no current backups and no written access, passwords to all my favourites sites. Imagine have to start all over with my only licence WinXP 1. I finally managed to make the hard disk work and able to find the right drivers to my old laptop hardware. I finally can go online with bare softwares. Yeah, with MSIE6. Yucks!

Thanks to some who keep visiting this poor papa and commenting. I have no interesting story to tell at the moment. I am too tired from all this bad experience. The first glimpse to internet from this laptop is direct to this blog. Even remembering the access password already took me half an hour. I have not sleep yet since I don’t know what time and I have to go to work today till 8pm tonight. What a life!

Replies to all comments will be posted up when this laptop is ready for the world. No pictures and no fancy-fancy graphics for now. All gone. The only good thing is the hard disk space. With nothing interesting inside, 100GB is quite a lot for me to play later on.

Oh ya, if you ever wonder why my laptop is down … all due to the power supply. Geez!

Sabahan Fuel Frenzy!

Automotive, Malaysian, Sabahan June 5th, 2008 | Viewed 728 views

Hahaha. Who got caught in the traffic jam? I was not. I knew its coming. I filled up a day ago. Whatever it is, I still do not understand why bother to fill up your tank last night when you can only make your car sustain for 3 to 5 days from the full tank only?

traffic jam to fuel station

Why the panic? It is different story if you really have to fill it up because your car fuel ran out already. However, if you were they just because of the announcement that the price would be hike up, I still cannot see the point of making yourself into the jam and cursing the rest for the long hours waiting. Unless you are bringing a big tanker there to fill up using the old price and you can sustain for the whole 2 weeks or full month, then, it is worth it. Just my opinion, I still think is ridiculous. Unless also you just want to join the crowd, then I can see your point. It was fun right? :D Read the rest of this entry »
