Camera, Kamera, compact or big gun DSLR?

I just realized last night, almost everyone has this big built camera that they called DSLR. Digital Single-Lens Reflex camera. Yep, I said that because out of nowhere even my own big brother own one – the Nikon bla bla bla… big, long, tall.. expensive.
Suddenly I thought of this words which says it all,
A dslr. These very simple letters tell it all. What’s a DSLR? Power. Pure and simple power. People look at you on the street, they feel its aura. They see that massive lens and they feel their feet tremble.
So you guys out there, is it because of that ‘aura’ or you just want to take nicer picture than the normal compact camera can gives you? You share with me here ok.
Whatever it is, I know they need this micro sd. Just a matter of which size to choose or is the brand matters? Once again, I do not know. I know I wish I have one just for the sake of having it. I am not going to get ‘involve more’ because I know for sure, like my radio control cars, I can get addicted and that is dangerous for me.
Thanks but no thanks if I have to buy it. If I get it as a gift, i will use it, for sure

This is depend on your needs. DSLR did give me a sense of proud in the past. Now everyone has one, so it is nothing.
I was used to be a PnS camera user. The reason I switched to DSLR after 3 years is because it is more powerful and faster. For example, compact camera taking 5 to 6 second to recharge flash after each fire, so slow. the models walk away oledi, lol.. i take 1 photo and DSLR users can shoot 20+ photos already. i shoot a lot of night event, the pop-up flash of compact camera is like candle. if using external flash, wow… you light up everything. also, the noise level of compact after ISO 400 is so bad, while good DSLR can go up to ISO 1250 without obvious noise (better quality). but if you shoot in daytime, compact can outperform DSLR sometimes. this is cause its sensor is nearer to the lens n compact uses high quality lens such as Leica, Carl Zesis.

when i first bought my dslr (which is now alvin’s), i only want to have the high quality of pictures that it promised. it is sharper in terms of resolution. i didn’t really get the differences until i switched back to compact camera. there is indeed a different when using a dslr and a compact one. in short, if u had have ur hands on dslr, you will not get the same satisfaction a dslr could give compared to compact camera. i think la…
but of cos, it is fast becoming a trend now…to have a dslr.

Yes, I agree with Clament, before I go for my first dSLR, I had my Lumix FZ8 ~ it is an advance P&S. Photo quality and features control of the camera not bad, just a little noise u’ll find.
I am taking wedding pix for friends and that is the main reason I am switching to dSLR apart from that Lumix is too light and I have shaky hands.
With dSLR, you will certainly see the quality differences, and alot more things you will be able to do with it.
I’d say, u go for it!

@vie –
Vie – Ya.. I’ve done my quick short research, I think I know what to get.. when the money is there already. Thanks for all the info. I for one will go for speed most of the time due to my passion on radio control car. I need to capture the shot as quick as possible.. if not, they’ll be gone. LOL.
Thanks all for the pointers
